DeVries reunion
June 2007

Well, it seems like a long time since I have done a post. Rich has done a good job at trying to keep up and has been having fun with the music play list. Things have been going well here at the foster pad. We are busy with all of the end of the year activities for the kids. There are only 2 more weeks before schools out! Today I feel I need to blog about our little RyRy. Ryan has been quite an addition to our family for the past 4 1/2 years. He had a rough start with enteroviral meningitis at 10 days old. As a growing infant he did awesome, reaching all milestones and was happy and a GOOD SLEEPER! Then about 15 months old we started noticing aggression that was not normal for his age. We thought it was a phase and hoped he would grow out of it. When we moved to Utah he was almost 2 and the aggression was getting worse and not a phase that we could control any more and he was not sleeping well any more. Well, for the past 2 1/2 years we have been through medical and neurophych testing beyond belief. We have days where Ryan does so well and he can handle what life throws at him and then we have days where he just can not cope. Ryan has been going to Rachelle (his psychologist) for 2 years now and he also goes to group therapy 2 times a week. In Feb. 2008 we finally got a diagnosis: ADHD and an anxiety disorder. Ryan has been our most difficult challenge yet, but every night before we go to bed we remind ourselves that we were chosen to be his parents and we have something to offer him. Just 1 month ago we cautiously started medicine for him and we have noticed small differences already. YEA! I love you so much Ryan! I want you to live life to the fullest and we are here to have fun with you and guide you along the way. Love, Mom

Can you even believe how much love you feel for these kids?? It takes being a parent to really realize how much love is in there! He is so cute and will be a blessing in your life always.

It is amazing how much the Lord blesses you and allows you to overcome such obstacles. And wow, what an amazing thing modern day medicine is and has become.

Sweetheart, words cannot express my emotions as I read your post. You and Rich are amazing parents. You have a beautiful family and truly see things from an eternal perspective. We know many prayers have been, and will continue to be answered as you raise your precious children. TyTy, Kelsey and RyRy are the light of our lives. Hugs and kisses to all of you. Can't wait to see you in 2 days! Yea! Love, Moppy
